Q7: Why is it preferrable to practice in low stances? Is it to better develop strength in the legs or is the actual alignment of leg/hip bones more correct for the techniques?

A7: High and low is not so important as the correct internal structure. Also, older people should not  practice in low stances at all. In push-hands practice there is also room for both.

But the low structure is better for developing leg strength.

Angle of 135 deg between ankle and floor is best for supporting strength. Permissible range is between 75 and 130 degs, depending on what kind of movement is going on, but for support 135 is best.
